This large sized bowl has a smooth, matte white glaze, intercepted by splatters of a soft browns and deep glossy greens.
Known in Japanese as “sumi-e”, ink wash painting is a type of brush painting that originates in East Asia. Here, the “strokes” are made by a brush, which splatters a colored glaze onto a neutral background. The result is reminiscent of the traditional “sumi-e”, creating a “semi-sumi” style. Each glaze that is used interacts differently with the base glaze, and, combined with the unpredictable pattern from the application technique, makes each piece uniquely intriguing.
All of my items are handcrafted, leaving each with its own individuality. They can be made into multiples of a unique family upon request; simply contact me to discuss this.
